My car obsession.
This is a list of the cars I have owned (did I forget any Dave?)
1954 GMC pickup
(Had this before I got my license. I never drove it much.)
1975 Chevrolet Silverado – 10
(My first car. I wrecked it after having my license for only two weeks.)
1980 Chevrolet Luv
(My real first car. I got it when I was 16, and had it all the way ‘till I was 20 or 21.)
1970 Ford F250 Super-Cab, Long-bed
(This was a work truck I had. Quite a beast. The engine blew on me, stranding me in the middle of nowhere about 3 miles from my house at 1:30 in the morning. After hearing the howls of the coyotes when first attempting the walk home, I decided to sleep the night in the truck.)
1977 Toyota pickup
(I’m almost embarrassed to have owned this one. It was teal-green, lowered, Malibu kit (it was a convertible), with a HUGE bumping stereo. [2 10 inch woofers, 2 12 inch woofers, and 2 6x9’s. I ended up suing the guy who sold it to me because he got an illegal smog certificate. After I won, I did some PI work for the Bureau of Automotive Repair, and ended up sending the guy who did the smog to jail.)
1985 Dodge 600
(The Chevy Luv was old and tired, so I got this run down piece of shit because it was more reliable than the Chevy.)
1993 Mitsubishi Eclipse
(After finally starting to work full time, I could afford car payments. I bought this and then sold the Dodge. This was my first nice car. I kept it for about 4 years.)
1991 Nissan 300ZX
(Feeling the need for an upgrade after 4 years with the Eclipse, I bought this fast and pretty car.)
1957 Chevrolet 150 2-door post
(I had some extra money, and bought my first ‘toy’ car. She was an amazingly fast hot-rod.)
1986 Mercury Grand Marquis
(I bought this car from my grandfathers estate after he passed away. I was thinking of buying a big luxury car, so bought this one to try it out.)
1994 Lexus LS400
(So I’m getting old, and was tired of getting in and out of the low sports cars. I liked the luxury car feeling, did a bunch of research on them, and bought the best one to fit my needs.)
1989 Chevrolet Corvette
(OK, so I still like sports cars, so I upgraded from the Nissan. At least I thought so; the Nissan is a better sports car in my opinion. Still a toy though.)
1977 Sterling
(A friend of mine had one of these in High School, and I’ve always wanted one. When one came up for sale, I bought it. Yes, another toy.)
So, I still have the Nissan, the Corvette, the Lexus, and the Sterling. Come spring I’m selling the Corvette and the Nissan. So far, the Nissan is my favorite sports car, but with the Sterling coming up, and the Lexus my favorite car to drive of all of them, I figure 2 cars is enough. Besides, I need to invest some of this money rather than letting it sit in cars that depreciate. Although, everytime I see a 1950's classic, I drool a little.
