Reason to celebrate
Friday, February 17, 2006 Let me premis this with a little story. When I went to take a close look at the yacht I ended up buying, I went with my dad. We both agreed it was a nice yacht, so I decided to leave a deposit on it and go through the hoops to buy it. While I was writing the check, I noted that the day was September 17th, which is exactly six months after my birthday. I mentioned this out loud by saying: "It's my half-birthday!!" The yacht broker asked for me to clarify, I did, and my father remarked: "He'll take any excuse to celebrate." Damn right I will. More people should be like that.
Anyway, I work for a consulting company. We bid for and either win or lose some pretty big contracts. When there is a technical part of the contract, my resume is included in the proposal to show we are more than capable of accomplishing that part of the contract. To make a long story short:
We won a 42 million dollar contract with the United States Environmental Protection Agency. Information Technology is a MAJOR part of the contract, I was mentioned as the person to implement it, I will be implementing it.
