Luxury = Strippers, not smoke
Monday, July 17, 2006 Ecstasky; Hooters Air, and now... SMINTAIR: Smokers International Air. Have you heard of this? Touting itself as a luxury airline, and allowing their passengers to smoke as just one of the things that makes the flight more pleasurable, even though that’s part of their name.
I’m wondering when airlines will finally get it. Sure, gimmicks are cool, and I would have loved to take a ride on a Hooters Air plane before they went exclusively charter, and depending on convenience, I might take advantage of Ecstasky Airlines (strippers in lingerie as the flight attendants), on my next trip to Vegas... before they fail too. Americans are more about convenience than they are gimmicks. The first factor I consider when I’m buying airline tickets is time. Does it leave when I want, arrive when I want, return when I want? The next is price: does another one’s time match my needs but is cheaper? And it usually stops there. I used to be a smoker, and I would have to be richer than I am now to justify paying even a little more for a flight just so I could smoke. SMINTAIR doesn’t have any flights scheduled yet, but I suspect when they do, it won’t last long. Ecstasky Airlines might just make it though. Very few flights to Vegas are for business, and what better way to start your Vegas Vacation than with a scantily clad stripper serving your drink and asking if she can fluff your pillow?
