Weekend Report

I really love having every other Friday off, it makes my weekend filled with one more day of excitement!!!

So I guess it starts with right after work, I took my new handgun (yep, I bought a handgun) to the range in Elk Grove to fire off a box of rounds and break it in before I took my dad to the range. I was having a small problem with the clip, but since the problem got less and less, I think it just needed to be broken in. (The spring was pushing the new round up too fast, causing a jam.) I’ll know how big of a problem that is when I buy another clip. It just seems like a good idea to have two.

A small note on guns:

For me... guns ARE toys, just very dangerous ones. I have no intention of thinking a handgun is for my personal protection, much less home protection. That was the point behind all that martial arts training way back when. (Besides, if I wanted to use a firearm for home protection, I’d get a 12-gauge pump action shotgun. Here are the reasons why: 1) There is an unmistakable sound made by the pump action of a shotgun that strikes fear in anyone for whom that action may be intended for. An intruder is likely to run away after hearing that. 2) Should you be in a situation where you need it, you’re likely to be nervous, and hence, shaky. Aiming well is less important with a shotgun. 3) Should you miss, buckshot is less likely to continue through the walls of your domicile and cause harm to innocent people or property than the bullet of most handguns.) It’ll be a rare occasion I own ammunition.

After that I headed home and got some fast food for dinner. It’s a rare occasion I have a cheeseburger anymore, but I still enjoy them. (They used to be a dietary staple of mine... until I started to get fat.) Then met up with Sean at Bud’s. Sadly, a few of the regulars for Thursday nights got laid off from work and decided not to attend. Seems odd to me, I know whenever I got laid off (yep, been a few times), the first thing I want to do is go have a drink. So we hung out in Buds for a bit, stopped at Sean’s to take care of the dogs (which I took the opportunity to show Sean my new handgun), then headed off to Bogeys... yes on the off chance Laura and Jenny would be there again. Laura was, but no Jenny. Oh well. We hung out with a few friend, met one of Laura’s friends and some guy from Long Beach who looked like Seann William Scott (Stifler from American Pie). I wasn’t really feelin’ it over at Bogeys, so off to Bradleys we went (what’s with Stockton and bars starting with a ‘B’?). At Bradleys, a guy we know (who is kind of a prick) was there playing pool, so I decided to get on the table, kick his but, and send back the attitude he gives off straight back at him. Someone mentioned the difference between him and I is generally I’m a nice guy, who can be a complete asshole. I know when I’m being an asshole, and I’m good at it. This guy is generally an asshole, but can at times be a nice guy. He doesn’t know when he’s being an asshole (he’s just a natural).

Another guy was there named Tristan, who deserves mention. He’s a 21 year old, but really a genuinely nice guy. He’d been talking with a girl there (later I found out he had just met her that night), but was playing pool with me a couple times. Sean and I set him up with a few lessons, and when we were apprised of the whole situation with him and the girl, we told him to get out of the bar, and take her with him. (This was of course AFTER the asshole tried his hand at hitting on the girl.)

So I went home, satisfied that I was a sufficient ass to he who deserved it, and friendly to everyone else around me.

Friday night I got a text from a friend saying a group was going to be at Bradley’s that evening, and that I should show up. Hmmmm. Me? At Bradley’s on a Friday night? That’s a novel idea!!!

Generally having a good time, there were a couple incidents that bothered me. Those problems need to be fixed by Bradleys, and here is how you do it. KICK PEOPLE OUT!!. Lets stop waiting for the fight to happen. See two guys standing inches from each other arguing? KICK THEM OUT!!! A girl reports a stranger grabbed her ass when she was dancing? KICK THEM OUT!!! I want Bradleys to post a sign: ‘We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone.’ and fully embrace that ideal. Nobody wants those people there, so KICK THEM OUT!!! Ok... I think my point was made.

Sean had been talking about his buddy Grant playing at Fats Saturday night for the last week, so I knew I’d be going. (Feel free to pimp the band out in the comments here with a link. I forgot their name.) They were supposed to start at 10, so I got there at 10, and met up with Sean and a couple of his coworkers. Some lessons about people were learned (Fats made for a great place to watch people that night), some more friends showed up, and we decided to go to the Strip Club. Grants band didn’t go on stage until after midnight, and we were all looking for something better to do.

Another note: I will make no excuses about attending a strip club, nor make any justifications for its existence. Any and all arguments about the ethics, morals, or standards of strip clubs will be kept off this site, including my own. If you are morally opposed to strip clubs, that’s fine, keep your opinion to yourself.

Four of us headed off to Deja-vu in Stockton, and had a grand old time. A couple of us got lap dances (maybe I won’t mention who). There was a very tall, very good-looking girl from North Carolina whom I enjoyed talking to. I loved the accent. Later in the evening, an Asian girl went on stage who was amazing. Seeing the acrobatics involved in her stage performance was worth the price of admission ($10, although I didn’t pay for it).

Sunday morning I went to breakfast with my parents, and took my Dad to the shooting range in Elk Grove afterwards. Next time we’ll bring my Mom.

Guns, bars and strippers: All in all a good weekend.

Sounds like fun. Wish I had known what was going on being home without Erik. (Wouldn't have been able to go since my babysitter's were sick.) I'm sure you'll be getting a call from him in the next few days, he comes home tonight.

Dude the Asian is the nor-cal pole champion! She used to come to the hookah bar all the time, shes' awesome! I was just in there not to long ago, just to watch her. Her choice of music isn't bad either!
